"[O]frece una nueva visi̤n del efecto del colonialismo sobre la cultura ind̕gena, a trav̌s de dos historias paralelas que suceden con cuatro ďcadas de diferencia (concretamente en 1901 y 1940). Una de ellas cuenta la historia de Theodor Koch-Gr|nberg, un explorador alem̀n que atraviesa el Amazonas para encontrar una extrąa flor que le ayudar̕a a superar una terrible enfermedad. Para esto necesita la ayuda del? ltimo superviviente de una tribu ya colonizada: el Cham̀n Karamakate. Este ind̕gena, cansado de la presencia de los espąoles en el Amazonas, decide no ayudar al explorador a menos que prometa servirle de gu̕a hasta encontrar a m̀s miembros de su desaparecida tribu. De forma paralela, un explorador americano llamado Richard Evans Schultes es conducido por un anciano Karamakate en la ?bsqueda de la apreciada planta. Description
The film centers on Karamakate, an Amazonian shaman and the last survivor of his people, and the two scientists who, over the course of 40 years, build a friendship with him. The film was inspired by the real-life journals of two explorers (Theodor Koch-Grünberg and Richard Evans Schultes) who traveled through the Colombian Amazon during the last century in search of the sacred and difficult-to-find psychedelic Yakruna plant.
