The campaign generates great attention and the Britain face intense public pressure. Weaken from World War II, the Britain finally grant India's independence. Religious tensions between Hindus and Muslims erupt into nationwide violence. Gandhi declares a hunger strike, saying he will not eat until the fighting stops.
